Class 1 2020 - 2021
Mrs Shorrock
EYFS teacher, Sports and PE Subject leader, Music Subject leader.
Class 1 Important Information
The Children's 'learning journeys' - photos, videos and observations are uploaded onto their Tapestry account for the parents to see. They are able to comments on their learning and even upload photos and videos from home! 'Tapestry Time' is brilliant when the children are able to stand up at the big screen and share and talk about events outside of school.
Each day we have Phonics, Literacy and Maths. We enjoy exploring the continuous provision in our room at 'busy time'. During the day we have 'milk time' and 'fruit time'. We are able to join our friends and buddies at playtime. At lunch we sit at our family group tables with children from the other classes.
Topics
Take a look at the Medium Term Plans on the Curriculum "Early Years" page or further down this page for more information.
Phonics & Reading
We learn different phonic sounds each week, we use Song of Sounds. (Check out the Phonics tab above). Also keep an eye out for the sound packs in book bags!
The reading books are changed when children have read at home and an adult has signed the reading record.
Each week we can choose books from our school library that we can enjoy sharing at home.
PE
We do PE on Thusdays - Please come to school dressed for PE.
Certificates
In celebration assembly on Fridays one child receives a certificate for their hard work.
One child is chosen as the Star Reader and also gets a certificate in celebration assembly.
The Star of the Week class trophy is handed out on Friday afternoon! Keep your eyes peeled on the class newsletter to find out who it will be!
Buddies
We each have a buddy to help us when we need them. Our buddies are in Year 6.
They play games at lunchtime with us, help us in the hall, care for us in the playground.
During the year we enjoy shared activities like... reading together, working out maths problems together and even sitting together in the Cinema!
Block/Outdoor Play
We enjoy using the blocks inside and outside to build exciting things!
We have all-weather full waterproofs to wear outside. Children can bring their own wellies, to keep on their peg (don't worry though we have plenty of spares!)
Always remember to bring a coat!
Welly Wednesday
Each Wednesday afternoon we join with Class 2 and head out into our wonderful school grounds.
We explore, study, build and learn! It is great fun!
